Abstract

David Schoff was born in North Carolina in 1945. He grew up mostly in Georgia but moved around due to his father’s military and Army status. He joined the Navy from 1963-1967, then joined the Air Force for 22 years, wanting to get away from the U.S. Army. During his service he was an electronic technician on carriers, and worked on B-52s and other aircraft in intelligence and reconnaissance operations. Schoff discusses his experiences, from training, to race relations, his job, and life. Schoff also recalls how veterans were treated when they came back from deployment, and the challenges of military life.
