A critical appraisal of "Effects of functional therapy program on motor abilities of children with cerebral palsy"

Answering the clinical question addressing the effectiveness of a functional physical therapy program in comparison to a traditional physical therapy program in improving motor abilities in children with cerebral palsy, this paper is a critical appraisal of the article "Effects of Functional Therapy Program on Motor Abilities of Children With Cerebral Palsy."� The examination of the introduction, methods, results, and discussion provided strengths and weaknesses that were found in the study; as well as the clinical significance, including the potential benefits and risks of the intervention. The results of the study showed that the improvements of gross motor function and motor abilities based off the GMFM did not show any difference; however, the children who received functional physical therapy showed improvement in the functional skills in daily situations, which were assessed using PEDI.
