Arthur Montgomery Collection

Arthur A. Montgomery of San Angelo, Texas was born on June 23, 1921. He entered into service June 11, 1942. He served as a sergeant in the Army Air Forces and was assigned to the B-17 Flying Fortress as a ball turret gunner. In 1944, he became a prisoner of war and was held by the German government until April 26, 1945. Following his confinement at a prisoner of war camp, he was able to return home to his wife and young son. This collection includes newspaper clippings about his service, letters to and from Montgomery, photographs, booklets, and service documents.
