Looking Out for You...In order to insure the utmost safety and security of our campus, the University Police (UPD) have actively been engaged in providing de-escalation training for our officers, implementing the use of body worn cameras, and the installation of several high resolution security cameras across the campus.  In February, UPD completed phase one of their parking lot security project wherein seventeen cameras were strategically placed in various locations throughout our campus parking lots.  As a result, these extra set of eyes assisted in solving four cases linked directly to events captured on cameras. So criminals beware because next time you might just get caught on camera.  
Did you know...
Angelo State University has its own storm water permit under the Clean Water Act thereby eliminating $6,000 annually in fees the University would otherwise pay to outside entities.  ASU's authorization began in 2015 and our Storm Water Management Plan includes a five year implementation schedule ramping us up to full use of Best Management Practices required under the General Permit. 5. What did the requisition say to the invoice?  "You complete me."Always remember to complete a requisition before receiving an invoice.
4. Embrace the invoice. Love the invoice.  But most importantly, hang on to that precious piece of paper until all items have been received.

Got anything to hide?  No?  Then you are just like all the rest of us.  Nothing to see here!  But, if you are one of those people who need to have their information kept private (Don't look at my stuff!), then take a peek at some information about encryption magic.  It's not really magic; I just wanted to say that.  However, if you want to see some encryption magic (or not), then please Open Sesame.
Talkin' Trash... In order for our campus to be eco-friendly, we must first start by talking trash.  We know it is very easy to inadvertently place non-recyclables in our campus recycling bins, therefore the key here is to know what is or isn't an allowable item.  For instance, although cardboard food boxes are an acceptable item, should they contain food waste on them such as used pizza, donut, or juice boxes, they would then be considered contaminants and should not be placed in the cardboard recycling bins.  When too many of these contaminants get placed in our recycling bins, they can cause the whole bin to be sent directly to the landfill (eek). But don't fret, with a little knowledge we can still think green while keeping our bins clean.  FMI contact EHSRM...

The Budget Office has processed 784 Budget Adjustments so far this fiscal year.
Forwarding Addresses Needed... Are you planning an office relocation on campus?  Did you start using an office as a storage room?  If so, we (the Space Planning and Utilization Department) want to know about those changes. We are working hard to reach our objective goal set out in The Strategic Plan for ASU to reach a classroom space usage efficiency (SUE) score of 75 by 2020.  It's an ambitious goal but we can do this with the help of you. All you need to do is submit a Space Allocation and Alteration Request Form (SAARF) anytime the usage of your office space and/or classroom changes.  To learn more...
New and Improved... ASU's Employment System is making strides and getting an upgrade.  Starting June 1st, this new system will make the application and hiring process much more efficient by offering ease of navigation as well as additional functions and features.
