Embracing the New Campus Carry Law...The safety and security of our campus is of the upmost importance and has been made our top priority when it comes to the new campus carry law that went into effect this past August 1, 2016.  As a result, Human Resources and University Police worked closely with our faculty, staff, and students to provide training and educational resources in order to familiarize the campus of the in's and out's of this new law.  To learn more, watch this awesome video.
Did you know...
Facilities Management processed approximately 4200 work orders this summer. More than a quarter of those work orders, 1086 to be exact, were processed during the week right before school started.  Mind blowing right?  Our Facilities guys have been crazy busy this summer so the next time you see them on campus, give them a big pat on the back.  They deserve it!

Have you heard the buzz... This past May, the US Department of Labor issued some changes in the overtime rule.  The salary threshold for white collar exemptions from overtime was increased from $23,660 to $47,476.  So what does this mean for the University? While a large portion of our employees will remain exempt under the teacher exemption rules, beginning November 1, 2016, those employees earning below the new salary threshold will likely become hourly and eligible for overtime pay.  If you are one of these employees, we encourage you to attend one of our weekly training sessions as there are some unique characteristics that everyone at ASU should be made aware.  FMI on rules/training sessions...
Danke schön... Environmental Health, Safety, and Risk Management would like to send a huge Thank You to all who have renewed their driver authorizations.  If you're unsure of who has been approved in your department, please take a minute to review the Approved Driver List.  Any drivers you feel should be on the list who are not will need to complete a Driver Approval Request Form; and if driving carts or vans will also need to complete those trainings, which are coordinated through the EHSRM Office
It's Jabber Time!  Is that infernally long meeting keeping you from asking your coworker a quick question? How do you have a conversation without interrupting your boss letting him know that this meeting is contributing to your early death?  Well, the Information Technology Department has the application to help you share these important moments with your coworkers.  I am, of course, talking about the instant messaging application Jabber.  If you are interested in learning more about Jabber, or are interested in using Jabber in your office, you can find out more here...

It's a Blue and Gold Metamorphosis...  If you haven't noticed, our Facilities Management folks have been very busy upgrading our campus this summer.  From the ASU Spirit Banners on the buildings, to the blue and gold classrooms, to the refreshing facelift of our campus landscaping.  Pictured above is our most recent transformation of the fountain area that once surrounded ASU's Ram and Ewe statues in front of the Junell Center.  So, if you haven't had an opportunity to see these enhancements, then you should definitely take a stroll around campus before it gets "too cold".
