"Biggest weakness all planted in "k" - horses and tags except m.w. for wild winner ¶ (Ithink the shoal on the front ate the eggs in the crate) ¶ Dear Mort one secret we kept quiet was how my late father was ass [sic] crazy about wild hogs as he was horses and wild women. Until a sow and pigs ate the tail off a mare down having a colt, he had anywhere from tree to four hundred head running up and down the big draw through the ranch. Every year about this time two or three hundred of the scoundrels took off up the river toward Barnhart to hit Honey Henderson's headquarters. Gawd a mighty, 3 of us had to ride up there and gather them to drive back to Noelke Switch. Also, we had to repair Mr. Henderson's fences and perhaps put a new arm on a water trough. One strange thing, the hogs drove good. Once we had them gathered in the railroad pens at Suzy's Switch, they drove home easier than sheep or cows. I am cured of hog nowadays. ¶ Asi no mas, Monte."
